National AHEC Week in Indiana celebrates

 

On March 25, 2008, 108 attendees celebrated National AHEC Week at the inaugural Indiana AHEC Program Annual Meeting. In addition to a keynote presentation from Richard Merchant, CEO of the North New York AHEC, attendees discussed project posters with Indiana high school and health professions students, learned about community-based health professions training from regional AHEC staff, and celebrated the contributions of five “Partnership Matters” award winners and our first “AHEC Hero.” <more>

2007 Update
80 medically underserved sites providing clinical education to health professions trainees

1,219 health professions trainees across Indiana

43 continuing education offerings reached 1,330 participants, including 302 clinicians employed in safety-net sites

19,027 K-12 students in health careers outreach

317 students completing intensive career exploration and academic enrichment activities, and 18% are racial/ethnic minority

3% of participating high school students are from minority or disadvantaged backgrounds.
