National AHEC Week in Indiana celebrates The Next Generation...

On March 25, 2008, 108 attendees celebrated National AHEC Week at the inaugural Indiana AHEC Program Annual Meeting, held at the Downtown Marriott in Indianapolis. In honor of the thousands of tomorrow’s health professionals who are now learning and practicing in Indiana’s schools, post-secondary institutions, and health professions training programs across the state, the theme of this year’s Annual Meeting was “The Next Generation.”

Many of this year’s attendees were members of the Indiana Area Health Education Centers (AHEC) Statewide Advisory Board, a group of more than 40 individuals who represent a broad array of Hoosier partners with a stake in ensuring that Indiana responds to emerging health care needs with demonstrably successful strategies to “grow our own” health care providers. Members of the Advisory Board met for their spring meeting on Tuesday morning, where the Board reaffirmed its commitment to ongoing guidance of the Indiana AHEC Program and reviewed progress on funds development and sustainability planning.
