the critical role of student-centered data management over time,
Northern New York AHEC CEO Richard Merchant delivered the meeting’s
keynote address. Merchant reviewed Northern AHEC’s highly successful web
platform MyHealthCareer.org. The interactive site delivers health
careers promotion, interest, assessments, and job placement information
to trainees and employers. A
unique combination of case managers and a rich data warehouse produce
tangible health workforce solutions that have convinced local rural
health care providers to invest in the platform.
Merchant reported that MyHealthCareer.org,
now serving all of New York and AHECs in several other states,
demonstrates the power of coordinated pipeline development programs to
guide qualified rural students into becoming clinicians who practice in
